The 14th Annual OTMH Classic - Sunday June 20th, 2010
The weather could not have been better on Father’s Day morning as the runners, power walkers and families prepared for the start of the 14th annual OTMH Classic presented by Oak-Land Ford Lincoln and Ford Motor Company Canada. Close to 1,100 participants gathered on Sunday June 20, 2010 to race and raise funds to purchase vital medical equipment for OTMH, including the Cardiology Department.
Energetic crowds cheered participants to the finish line and stayed to enjoy a delicious Father’s Day breakfast prepared by Catered Fare, Longo’s and McDonald’s of Oakville. The outfield grass at Wallace Park was filled with some of Ford’s hottest vehicles and lots of interactive activities, including a bouncy castle, an RBC Canadian Open booth, mini-massages and Father’s Day craft stations.
OTMH Classic Committee co-chairs, Lynn Pike and Sandra McAughey, couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome. “The participants, volunteers and sponsors have turned the OTMH Classic into a much anticipated Oakville tradition. It’s an event that the entire family can enjoy.” They also recognized the impact of the Classic’s Founding sponsor, Oak-Land Ford Lincoln. “Their loyal support is a true example of community leadership. The Sanci family has supported the needs of OTMH for 24 consecutive years and we’re very proud of our relationship.”
More than $47,000 was raised through participant pledges and the majority of this total was raised online at www.otmhclassic.com. Top Adult Fundraiser awards were distributed to: Christie Henderson and Alun Evans, while Amanda Guedikian, Cameron Pike and Sebastian Ray took the honour of Top Youth Fundraisers. The Henderson Partners LLP Team was awarded the Top Team Fundraising award. Each of the Top Fundraisers received Whole Foods Market gift cards.
The OTMH Classic is held annually on Father’s Day; next year’s event will be held on Sunday June 19, 2011. Events such as the OTMH Classic help the Oakville Hospital Foundation raise funds to support the essential medical equipment needs at OTMH. All equipment purchased this year will be used at OTMH, before being moved to the new Oakville Hospital.
