US & Canadian Tax Compliance

Barry Joined Henderson Partners in the fall of 2003 after spending more than 10 years with other accounting firms performing various tax work primarily focused on compliance, research and planning with regard to all matters of taxation for Canadian and American clientele that consists largely of entrepreneurial owner managers, professionals, executives and their families.  In addition, Barry has had experience with the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) claims of all types and sizes of organizations including private and public enterprises.

Barry obtained his C.A. in 2000, enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service in 2001, and completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Course in 2004 and Part III in 2008.

In 2007, Barry joined the steering committee for the Hamiltion and District Tax Discussion Group, a joint effort between the Canada Revenue Agency, Ontario Ministry of Revenue and practitioners in the Greater Hamilton area to provide tax information to tax practitioners in the forum of breakfast seminars held three times per year.

In addition to this focus on tax, Barry's studies at the University of Waterloo included a minor in computer science. With this background, and technically oriented nature, Barry has also developed an interest in the various accounting software packages on the market available to small businesses. This includes QuickBooks, Simply Accounting, Quicken, MYOB, Business Vision, and others.
